Our Story

Before sprint cars, Daniel spent his time racing jet boats, always chasing speed and competition wherever he could find it. In 2012, he made the switch — from jet boats to sprint cars — and what began as a new challenge quickly turned into a lifelong passion.

If it wasn’t for Doug Rutz, Jim Richmond, and Greg Hiddleston, this journey would never have begun. Their early guidance, support, and belief in Daniel helped shape what Daniel Anderson Racing has become today.

Alongside running the family restaurant, The Ranch Bar & Grill in Te Anau, Daniel built the race team from the ground up. What started in a small shed has grown into a team known across New Zealand and the USA.

In 2022, American driver Joel Myers Jr. joined the team, bringing not only incredible talent behind the wheel but also a strong work ethic and professionalism that lifted everyone around him. Joel’s knowledge, attention to detail, and drive to keep everything clean, sharp, and race-ready has set a new standard within the team — both on and off the track.

Since joining, Joel has achieved some outstanding results — including two War of the Wings Championships, the 1NZ title, multiple Gold Cups, Salute to Goodie wins, and that unforgettable Western Springs last-lap finish, along with many other milestones that have made the team proud.

Over the years, Daniel Anderson Racing has had the chance to work with some incredible talent — from Buddy Kofoid racing under our banner in 2018–2019, to Max Guilford joining for the 2024–2025 season. Each driver has brought their own style, commitment, and story, helping shape the team into what it is today.

None of this would be possible without the crew, family, and supporters who’ve been there every step of the way — turning spanners, travelling miles, and backing the team through every high and low. Your effort, time, and belief keep everything moving forward.
